until the next time infant prefolds

Warning. Mommy blog post ahead.

On Bedtime

I jinxed myself yesterday by saying that Max sleeps through the night. Yes, from 2 months old on (he’s 3 months now) he more or less will go down at 9pm, wake up between 3:30am-4am for a snack, and then go back to sleep until between 6:30-7:30 am. That’s really great. I’m very lucky. He usually starts off in his Fisher Price Newborn Rock ‘n Play Sleeper which is hands down — the best $40 we spent on baby gear this year. Then when it’s time for part II, he goes back to sleep in his Arm’s Reach Co-sleeper. Sometimes he starts out in his co-sleeper, but if he has ANY gas it’s a no go. He has to be very sleepy or gasless to fall asleep there. Of course, the time will soon be here when Max will shun these two lovely sleeping arrangements and slumber in his crib — but that day hasn’t arrived yet. Maybe when he can do tummy time for more than 5 minutes without having gas, he’ll find the inspiration to roll over. The little guy is already almost sitting up, and fake scoot push crawling, so I know he could roll if he wanted to, but he is also a very gassy baby, so he never feels like doing tummy time for very long.

Last night he woke up at 3:30am — had a nice leisurely late night snack, and then I started feeling guilty that he probably has a soaked diaper. He did. So I changed him, against my better judgement. He would’ve been fine making it through the next few hours, but alas, I felt a change would make him more comfortable. Then he thought it was “4am fun awake smile time” (which really is terribly adorable) and we stayed up a bit longer than usual, as I coaxed him to nurse a few more times until he finally fell back to sleep at 4:40am ish. Well, at least he went right back to sleep.

Cloth Diapers

Also, as he gets bigger, I think it’s time to ditch the infant prefolds (love these) and use snappies with an angel fold with regular sized prefolds. Yes, the time has come. I tried this last night and he stayed dry all night long. I know my little man is bigger than 15 lbs now,  and that seems to be the infant prefold limit. Until the next time infant prefolds …

In non baby news — bloggers like Melissa from Dear Baby Blog tweeted about slurping down a Salted Caramel Mocha the other day — so I just had to try it out for myself. I ordered a grande no whip skim salted caramel mocha this morning, a delish alternative to my normal cup of (creamy/sugary) coffee. Totally worth the 290 calories. Totally perfect for a Tuesday full of meetings.
